Rett is originally from Slingerlands, NY. He graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 1991 and attended Dartmouth College earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1995. At Dartmouth, Rett continued his ice hockey and lacrosse careers as well as participating in a fraternity and senior society. After Dartmouth, Rett took a job at Alex Brown and Sons, Inc. working on the NASDAQ institutional trading desk. Working in Baltimore for nearly 6 years and pursuant to Deutsch Bank’s acquisition of Alex Brown and subsequent relocation to New York City, Rett eventually rose to Vice-President of OTC trading specializing in the software sector. As a Vice President, he traded a list of over 60 NASDAQ stocks before opting to leave the business and Manhattan after 9/11/2001.

The decision to leave NYC for brighter skies was an easy one for Rett and he began his new career with Lennar Homes, Inc. as a Land Development Manager in their South Florida Land Division. Rett worked at Lennar for nearly three years ending as a Portfolio Manager for their St. Lucie County assets. While at Lennar, Rett was an integral part of teams that entitled over 1,400 homes and 200,000 SF commercial space. Rett has had successful transactions that include, but are not limited to, Annexations, Comprehensive Land Use Plan Amendments, Planned Unit Developments (both Single Family and Townhomes), SFWMD Environmental Resource Permits, Army Corps of Engineer Permits, Land Swaps, as well as overseeing horizontal land development operations both on and off-sites.

Outside of his land development strategizing, political lobbying and earthwork/underground development management responsibilities, Rett was also responsible for all budgets ($60+ million), scheduling, and contracting pertaining to his communities. Rett enjoys golf, backgammon, cards, skiing and traveling.
